Headache Holiday?

The holidays are a very special time of year, but MANY people find them exciting to the spirit and to the nerves... This can be a bad thing! We all get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season, but it is important that you take time to think about your own health rather than being 100% preoccupied with getting Johnny the newest Tickle Me Elmo, Sally the Dora Backpack that is impossible to find, who knows what dad wants (he is a pain to shop for), and Uncle Tim sure wants that new Callaway driver... Stress is a natural occurance in life and can actually be a good thing, it gets the blood flowing, gets the muscles pumping and can cause endorphin relase. However, the build-up of the stress can create debilitating problems such as muscle tightness, headaches, upset stomach, high blood pressure, and even reduce the body's ability to fight off illness and disease. SO GIVE YOURSELF A TIME OUT! Plan on setting aside time during this crazy month to take a bubble bath, read a book (christmas lists don't count), get a massage, see your chiropractor (shameless plug), meditate, or just plain rest. If you need to, actually write down on your calendar once a week when you will take this time, and STICK TO THE SCHEDULE!!! If you don't you will be paying with more than just your checkbook this holiday season. Your health is your greatest asset, protect it!
